Dedicated to bringing Big Band Jazz to the San Luis Valley and beyond, the SLV Big Band is a non-profit group of community members who volunteer their time and talents to make the Rockies rock again. with Jazz. Members come from all walks of life, including current and retired administrators, doctors, lawyers, and more. The San Luis Valley Big Band is committed to bringing Big Band Jazz to the San Luis Valley and elsewhere, and for many years they have toured southern Colorado and northern New Mexico to deliver concerts for those interested in jazz music.
New this summer: ALMA is partnering with the Alamosa County RSVP (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program) and San Luis Valley Food Bank Network by hosting a food drive at every Sunday at Six concert this summer, to benefit the Alamosa Food Pantry. Everyone is invited to contribute one or two non-perishable items for this food drive. Look for the containers under the ALMA tent at each concert. Here are some ideas for must-have items: canned meat (tuna and chicken), peanut butter and other nut butters, low-sodium canned vegetables and beans, healthy snacks (low-sugar granola bars, fruit etc.), gluten-free foods, canned or canned healthy meals (chili, etc.), shelf stable milk and milk alternatives. Help us fight food insecurity in Alamosa County!
